Jobs Not Commutes

We cannot build enough roads to solve the transportation problems we face. The topography of our area makes that very difficult and expensive. We need to get traffic moving in other directions by bringing jobs here, especially high paying ones. We are rapidly becoming a data center hub which will be great for taxes, however we need to diversify. We are working to attract other high tech, medical and education jobs to our city. Economic development is the engine that powers our city. If we stay a bedroom community, our taxes will go up and our commutes will increase.

How do we draw businesses here? We need to look at ways to make our city more competitive. RDA’s help with tax incentives, but there are other ways we can make our city attractive to businesses. Those include having the necessary infrastructure in place, stream lining approval processes, and growing the businesses we currently have. Our Chamber of Commerce has been a great resource for the businesses in our city and I plan to continue to support the great work they do. We are also developing our downtown plans. Our new downtown will provide the walkable experience necessary for small mom and pop stores to thrive. Our new city hall will have the main floor dedicated to small businesses, either as an incubator, or inexpensive space available for lease.

Our economic future is bright in Eagle Mountain.
